Derrick Rose is an American former professional basketball player born on October 4, 1988. He played one year of college basketball for the Memphis Tigers before being drafted first overall by his hometown Chicago Bulls in the 2008 NBA draft. He chose the University of Memphis under coach John Calipari, switching his number to #23 because #25 was retired for Penny Hardaway.
